Have you ever stopped to wonder “what can I do” to serve God? As we go about our busy days I am sure you have wondered about how you can serve? How can I make a difference?
Read: Matthew 5:13-16
Let your light shine before people, so they can see the good things you do and praise your Father who is in heaven.
Keep this thought for the day:
I can’t do everything to serve God, but I can always do something to give him glory.
The NLE board will host a training event Saturday for all persons interested in serving on future walks. If are a recent pilgrim that would like to get involved or one who has served in the past and would like to do more, we encourage you to come and learn together.
This Saturday, January 26 8:30 am. Continental breakfast will be served and we should be through no later than 10:30.
We will meet at the Church at Stone River in Decatur.
Hope to see you then!
Just a reminder our next community gathering is on Thursday January 17th at 6:30 pm at The Church at Stone River in Decatur. It will be a covered dish meal followed by singing, a program and communion.
The Gift of Another Year!!!
Thought for the day – each year of life is an opportunity to grow in the knowledge of God. Wow, here we are at the beginning of a new year. A year full of opportunity – what are your plans for the new year???
The Lord says, “Behold, I will do a new thing.” – Isaiah 43:19 (KIV)
Yes, the new year is just around the corner and as we all rest and remember our Christmas celebrations with family and I friends, I give you this new thought: When I turn toward God, I can find a new beginning.
I salute the new year that the Lord has provided – Be Blessed and Happy New Year…
Support the New Life Emmaus Community with your gifts. There are many expenses to conduct a Walk to Emmaus that are not covered by Pilgrim walk fees such as insurance, supplies and materials. We rely on donations for these costs. If you would like to make a tax deductible donation to help, you may send a check to New Life Emmaus, P.O. Box 5151, Decatur, AL 35601. Include your mailing address to receive a receipt at the end of the year. Thank you and Merry Christmas.
As we approach the birth of our Savior I always spend more time thinking and praying. I saw this today a poem often told and shared by Bear Bryant and thought it is just the right thought for today.
“This is the beginning of a new day. God has given me this day to use as I will. I can waste it or use it for good. What I do today is very important because I am exchanging a day of my life for it. When tomorrow comes, this day will be gone forever, leaving something in its place I have traded for it. I want it to be gain, not loss — good, not evil. Success, not failure in order that I shall not forget the price I paid for it.”
Monday the first day of the week – the day when things start new. I hope everyone had a wonderful Thanksgiving with family – a time to eat to much, laugh to much, watch to much football and maybe slip in one nap.
As we begin this week and start that march to the most wonderful day of all the birthday of our savior I will like to give you this thought for the day – How can I share the light of Christ today?
Yes, this is the perfect time to focus on sharing that light as we shop and prepare for the Lord’s Birth. As you go to work, school or just at Walmart remember to share that light. May your day and week be blessed.
Now is the time to sign up to serve on the upcoming Women’s walk November 8-11. Contact Sylvia Betts at email@example.com or 256.318.3307 and talk about service opportunities
James 2:17 (NIV) Faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.
Think about it how will you and I demonstrate God’s grace through loving actions today?
