Community Letter – November Updates!!

Dear New Life Community,

Let me lead with the big news- We will finally share another meal together! YES!!! We are planning a Pre-Thanksgiving Gathering which will include a covered dish supper. It will be on November 18th at  6:30 at Stone River. Child care will be available until 8:00 pm. Bring your favorite dish and be prepared for fun, fellowship and worship.

Also at this meeting we will elect new board members for the class of 2024. We have five members of our board who have served faithfully and have completed their terms (and beyond!). Many thanks to lay members Bill and Myscha Crouch, Jimmy Brazelton, Shannon Calhoun. Thanks also to clergy member Charles Betts, Sr. for his wisdom and leadership as Spiritual Director. It has been a privilege to serve alongside this special group of servant-leaders.

Thanks also to those who remain on the board for the upcoming year and their willingness to continue to explore new ways to keep the fire going! Returning members are clergy Ted Amey and Amy Parsons Vaughn; lay members Katie Barksdale, Sylvia Betts, Shelly Gary, Richard Gregory, Billy Hames, John McFee and Gail Sharp. An extraordinary group!

Other news: The October 30th training session was held on the grounds at Sacred Heart and what a blessing it was! Surely the Presence of the Lord was in this place. Walking the grounds for our Spiritual Formation aspect, coming together with new and seasoned community members for training and then sharing Holy Communion together was a gift. Thanks to all who participated in this special day.

As we close this most unusual year and look to new beginnings in the coming year, we have so many unanswered questions. But we can rest assured that God has a plan in place for the future of the Walk to Emmaus and His New Life Emmaus Community. We will wait patiently for Him to reveal that plan and know it is better than we could ever hope for, as Ephesians 3 tells us- Now to him who is able to do immeasurably more than all we ask or imagine, according to his power that is at work within us, to him be glory in the church and in Christ Jesus throughout all generations, for ever and ever! Amen.

The grace of the Lord Jesus Christ and the love of God and the fellowship of the Holy Spirit be with you all.
